Supplemental benefits education

Routine dental, vision, and hearing needs often sit outside Original Medicare.

The legacy CKT site built a full page around these gaps. The new version keeps the useful comparison while reflecting current Medicare guidance and separating routine benefits from medically necessary services.

Dental

Original Medicare generally does not cover routine cleanings, fillings, extractions, dentures, and most other dental care. Medicare may cover certain dental services when they are closely related to specific covered medical treatment.

Vision

Original Medicare generally does not cover routine eye exams for eyeglasses or contacts. Part B does cover certain eye-related services and may cover corrective lenses after qualifying cataract surgery.

Hearing

Original Medicare generally does not cover hearing aids or exams for fitting them. Part B can cover certain diagnostic hearing and balance exams when medically necessary.

Medicare Advantage and standalone benefits

Many Medicare Advantage plans offer extra benefits that Original Medicare does not cover, including some dental, vision, and hearing benefits. Benefit limits, provider networks, allowances, frequency rules, waiting periods, and covered services vary by plan.

Standalone coverage can also be considered when primary coverage does not provide the desired benefit. Compare the actual covered services and limits, not only the monthly premium.
