Final expense education

Final expense planning is about what your family may have to handle immediately.

The legacy CKT site focused on the burden that funeral and other end-of-life costs can leave behind. The rebuilt page keeps that purpose without relying on stale national cost estimates or one-size-fits-all premium claims.

What final expense insurance is

Final expense insurance is a form of life insurance generally designed around a smaller death benefit. Families may use the proceeds for funeral or burial costs, outstanding bills, medical expenses, legal costs, or other needs. The beneficiary controls how the death benefit is used unless the policy or beneficiary arrangement says otherwise.

What to compare

  • Death benefit and whether it matches the intended need.
  • Premium amount and whether premiums can change.
  • Underwriting requirements and any graded or limited early death benefit.
  • Waiting periods, exclusions, and policy definitions.
  • Whether existing life insurance already covers the same need.
Useful distinction: “Final expense” describes the planning goal. The exact life-insurance contract still needs to be reviewed on its own terms.
